Terms and Conditions of our event “Side Quest”

Personal Conduct
All attendees, participants, and vendors are expected to conduct themselves in a respectful and
professional manner while on-site at Side Quest – Maximize Your Party XP. Harassment,
discrimination, violence, disruptive behavior, or any actions deemed unsafe or inappropriate will
not be tolerated. Any violations may result in immediate ejection from the event at the sole
discretion of Bright Light Events & Entertainment, with no refund or compensation provided.
Right to Eject
Bright Light Events & Entertainment reserves the right to refuse entry to or remove any
individual from the event at any time for any reason, including but not limited to disorderly
conduct, intoxication, failure to comply with event rules, or any behavior that negatively impacts
the experience of others. No refunds, reimbursements, or other compensation will be provided
in such cases.
Photography & Video Consent
By attending Side Quest – Maximize Your Party XP, you acknowledge and agree that you may
be photographed, filmed, or otherwise recorded. Bright Light Events & Entertainment and its
partners reserve the right to use any such media for promotional, marketing, or archival
purposes without any obligation to provide monetary compensation or prior notification. Your
attendance at the event constitutes your consent to such use.
What Your Ticket Grants You
Your ticket to Side Quest – Maximize Your Party XP grants you access to all event activities and
entertainment on-site at no additional charge. You are also able to purchase food and
beverages from the venue, but please note that Bright Light Events & Entertainment does not
receive any portion of those sales—all proceeds from food and beverage sales go directly to the
venue.
The price of your ticket helps make this event possible and contributes to its growth, ensuring
that each year can be bigger and better than before. We sincerely appreciate your support in
making this event a reality and for being part of a community that celebrates gaming, creativity,
and shared experiences.

Standard Rules and Regulations for Geek Trivia

1. Team Composition:
 Team Size: Limit teams to a maximum of six participants to ensure fairness and
encourage active participation.
2. Game Structure:
 Rounds and Questions: Organize the game into multiple rounds, each containing a set
number of questions. A common format includes 8 rounds with 8 questions each.

 Question Categories: Tailor categories to nerd-centric topics such as:
o Science Fiction Literature
o Fantasy Worlds
o Comic Book Lore
o Tabletop Gaming
o Cult Classic Films
o Anime and Manga
o Technology and Gadgets
o Mythology and Folklore

3. Question Format:
 Types of Questions: Incorporate a mix of question formats to maintain engagement:
o Multiple Choice: Participants select the correct answer from provided options.
o True or False: Participants determine the validity of a given statement.
o Short Answer: Participants provide a brief response without options.
o Picture or Audio Rounds: Participants identify images or audio clips related to
nerd culture.
4. Answer Submission:
 Written Responses: Teams write down their answers and submit them at the end of each
round.
 Time Limits: Allocate a specific amount of time for each round to keep the game
progressing smoothly.
5. Scoring System:
 Point Allocation: Assign a standard point value to each correct answer. For added
strategy, allow teams to assign different point values (e.g., 1, 3, 5, or 7) to questions
within a round, using each value once.
 Bonus Points: Offer bonus points for particularly challenging questions or for streaks of
consecutive correct answers.
6. Rules and Conduct:
 No External Assistance: Prohibit the use of mobile phones, books, or other reference
materials during the game to prevent cheating.
 No Shouting Answers: Discourage participants from calling out answers to maintain
order and fairness.

 Team Collaboration: Encourage internal team discussions but disallow collaboration
between different teams.
7. Tie-Breakers:
 Additional Questions: Prepare extra questions to resolve ties.
 Sudden Death: Use a sudden-death format where the first team to answer a tie-breaker
question correctly wins.
8. Prizes and Recognition:
 Awards: Provide themed prizes, such as collectibles or gift vouchers, for the top-
performing teams.
 Acknowledgment: Recognize the winning team publicly to celebrate their achievement.
9. Terms & Conditions:
Bright Light Events and Entertainment reserves the right to modify, update, or change the rules
and regulations of Geek Trivia at any time at its sole discretion. Participants are encouraged to
check for updates prior to the event.

Side Quest Costume Contest

General Rules
1. Eligibility
o Participants must be registered attendees of the event.
o Each participant may enter only one category: either Craftsmanship or
Functionality.
2. Originality and Content
o Costumes must be appropriate for a general audience (PG-13 rating). Explicit
content, offensive language, or gestures are not allowed.

3. Safety and Props
o Real weapons, live flames, pyrotechnics, and any hazardous materials are
strictly prohibited.

o Props must comply with event safety policies and be approved during
registration.

Armory & Quartermaster
To ensure the safety and comfort of all attendees, Side Quest will provide an Armory, a
designated space where cosplayers and patrons can safely store large props, costume pieces,
or personal belongings that they do not wish to carry throughout the event.
1. Check-In Process:
o Attendees wishing to store items in the Armory will check them in with the
Quartermaster, who is responsible for overseeing security in this area.
o Upon check-in, patrons will receive a ticket that corresponds to their stored items.
Only the ticket holder may retrieve their belongings.

2. Security & Access:
o The Quartermaster and event security will be stationed at the Armory to ensure
the safety of all stored items.
o Patrons may only access their stored items when presenting their corresponding
ticket.
o Lost tickets will require verification with event management before any items are
released to prevent theft, tampering, or unauthorized handling.

3. Strict Handling Policy:
o No one except the ticket holder and Quartermaster will be allowed to interact with
stored items.
o Any attempt at unauthorized access, theft, or tampering will result in immediate
action from event security.
o The Armory is a safe zone—no tomfoolery, shenanigans, or mischief will be
tolerated in this space.

This system ensures that all cosplayers and attendees can enjoy the event without worrying
about their belongings, maintaining a fun, fair, and secure atmosphere for all!

Craftsmanship Category
This category celebrates the art of costume-making, rewarding participants who showcase
excellent construction, materials, and attention to detail.
1. Costume Creation
o Participants must have created at least 70% of their costume.
o Store-bought or commissioned costumes are not eligible for this category.

2. Judging Criteria
o Accuracy: Faithfulness to the original character design.
o Craftsmanship: Quality, complexity, and technique of the costume’s construction.
o Material Use: Choice of materials and their application in costume creation.

Functionality Category
This category focuses on how well a costume is built for movement, durability, and practical use.
Cosplayers who prioritize comfort, mobility, and wearability will thrive in this competition.
1. Functionality Requirements
o Costumes should allow full movement for the wearer.
o Emphasis is placed on stability, durability, and usability—whether for action
poses, combat, or long-term wear.
o Designs should ensure practicality, allowing the wearer to navigate the event with
ease.
2. Judging Criteria
o Mobility: How easily the wearer can move, pose, and interact in the costume.
o Durability: How well the costume holds up during use without significant
adjustments.
o Practicality: Comfort, breathability, and ease of wear throughout the event.

Registration and Check-In
1. Registration
o Participants must register online or on-site by the specified deadline.
o A description of the costume, along with any technical requirements, must be
submitted during registration.

2. Check-In
o All participants must check in at the designated area on the day of the event to
confirm their participation and receive final instructions.

Awards and Recognition
 Awards will be given in each category, such as Best Craftsmanship, Best Functionality,
and Best in Show.

 Judges may also award honorable mentions for outstanding entries.

Rule Adjustments & Final Authority
Bright Light Events & Entertainment reserves the right to modify, adjust, or alter these rules at
any time at their discretion. Any changes will be made in the interest of fairness, event integrity,
and participant safety. Contestants are encouraged to check for any updates prior to the event.
By participating, you agree to follow these rules and uphold the spirit of creativity, respect, and
fun. Whether you're here to compete or to cheer on the contestants, Side Quest is your place to
celebrate the artistry of cosplay!

Side Quest – Speed Commander Tournament
A fast-paced Commander (EDH) tournament designed for both fun and competition!
This tournament follows the official Magic: The Gathering rules and regulations as outlined by
Wizards of the Coast. Bright Light Events & Entertainment upholds these standards to
ensure a fair, competitive, and enjoyable experience for all participants.
Sportsmanship & Conduct
All players are expected to uphold the integrity of the game and demonstrate good
sportsmanship at all times. Poor sportsmanship, including but not limited to excessive
arguing, harassment, cheating, slow play, or any behavior deemed disruptive or
unsportsmanlike, will not be tolerated.
Tournament judges, moderators, and event staff have full discretion in determining what
constitutes poor sportsmanship. Bright Light Events & Entertainment reserves the right to
eject any player from the tournament for poor conduct. In extreme cases, players may
also be removed from the entire event without a refund of their ticket price.
By participating in this event, players acknowledge and agree to these rules. The goal is to
foster a competitive yet welcoming environment where all participants can enjoy the game at its
best.
Event Details
 Format: Constructed Commander (EDH)
 Rules Enforcement Level (REL): Regular (Casual Competitive)
 Proxies: NOT allowed – Only official Magic: The Gathering cards permitted.
 Deck Legality: Must follow Commander format rules as per Commander Rules
Committee
 Player Limit: TBD (based on sign-ups)
 Entry Fee: TBD (if applicable)

Tournament Structure
 Number of Rounds: Two 45-minute rounds + a Final Pod
 Game Structure: 3-4 player pods
 Win Conditions:
o The last player standing OR
o If time is called, the winner is determined by:
1. Most players eliminated.
2. Highest life total.
3. Most commander damage dealt.

Round Breakdown:
1. Round 1 (45 minutes) – Randomized pods of 3-4 players.
2. Round 2 (45 minutes) – Winners are reseated into new pods.
3. Final Pod (Optional) – If time allows, the top 4 players face off.

Rules & Enforcement
 No infinite combos beyond 2-minute loops – Encourages interactive gameplay.
 No slow play – Players must maintain reasonable game pace.
 Judge decisions are final – A designated judge will oversee disputes.
 Deck lists required upon registration – Ensures deck legality.

Prizes & Recognition
 Champion Prize – TBD (e.g., high-value Magic product, exclusive promo)
 Top 4 Players – Receive event-exclusive rewards.
 Participation Rewards – All players receive a small prize or raffle entry.

Equipment & Logistics
 Judge(s) on-site to manage the event.
 Tracking System: Players will report game outcomes to the judge.

Nerd Speed Dating

TERMS OF USE
Bright Light Events and Entertainment ("https://www.brightlightevents.com/", "Bright Light
Events and Entertainment", "Us", "We", "Our" and "Its") and the services it provides to
Participants, Mailing List Subscribers, and Web Site Users (hereinafter collectively referred to as
Its "Users", "Participant", "Attendee", "You" and "Your") facilitates introductions of single people
in a face-to-face manner at a local venue.
Legal Agreement
This is a legal agreement ("Agreement") between You and Bright Light Events and
Entertainment. By using the Bright Light Events and Entertainment website, joining Its mailing
list(s), or participating in Its events, You agree to be bound by the terms and conditions of this
Agreement. If You do not agree, then You may not use the Bright Light Events and
Entertainment website, join Its mailing list(s), nor participate in Its events. This Agreement is
subject to change at any time by Bright Light Events and Entertainment.
Your Responsibility
Users must be 21 years or older. Any and all information provided to Bright Light Events and
Entertainment must be true, complete, and correct in all aspects, and material information must
not be omitted. Users must obey all applicable laws and regulations while using the Bright Light
Events and Entertainment website and while attending Bright Light Events and Entertainment
events.
Reporting an Incident

If an incident occurs during the event, it must be reported immediately to either the Master of
Ceremonies or an official event staff member. Event staff will be present throughout the
venue to assist with any concerns or issues that arise.
 How to Report – Attendees must locate the Master of Ceremonies or an event staff
member and clearly explain the situation.
 Review Process – Each reported incident will be reviewed individually, considering the
circumstances and the people involved.
 Confidentiality – Reports will be handled with discretion to ensure a fair and respectful
resolution for all parties involved.
 Action Taken – Based on the severity of the incident, Bright Light Events and
Entertainment reserves the right to take appropriate action, including warnings, removal
from the event without refund, or potential banning from future events. All decisions are
final and at the discretion of Bright Light Events and Entertainment.

Proper Conduct & Respectful Interaction
All attendees are expected to conduct themselves in a respectful and courteous manner toward
other participants, event staff, and venue personnel. Treating others with kindness,
professionalism, and dignity is a core expectation of participation. Harassment, discrimination,
aggressive behavior, or any form of inappropriate conduct will not be tolerated.
 Respect Others – Engage in interactions with consideration and mutual respect.
Inappropriate language, offensive remarks, or intrusive behavior will not be permitted.
 Personal Boundaries – Respect the personal space and comfort of others. Do not
engage in physical contact without explicit consent.
 No Harassment or Disturbances – Any form of verbal, physical, or emotional
harassment, including unwanted advances, disruptive behavior, or intimidation, is strictly
prohibited.
 Compliance with Event Staff – Follow all instructions given by event organizers and
staff to ensure a smooth and positive experience for everyone.
If an attendee is found in violation of this agreement, disturbing others, or acting inappropriately
in any way, Bright Light Events and Entertainment reserves the right to remove that
individual, ask them to leave, or eject them from the event in totality, without refund.
Repeated violations may result in a ban from future events. All decisions are final and at the
discretion of Bright Light Events and Entertainment.
Event Participation & Liability Waiver
By attending a Bright Light Events and Entertainment event, you acknowledge and agree to
the following:

 No Legal Recourse – If you do not agree to these terms, or if you violate any of the
terms and conditions outlined in this agreement, you waive any legal right for recourse.
You may not seek legal action, retaliation, or compensation from Bright Light Events
and Entertainment or any of the vendors associated with the event.
 Right to Removal – We reserve the right to remove any attendee from the event at our
discretion if we determine that they have failed to follow event rules, caused a
disturbance, or acted inappropriately. No refunds will be issued to individuals
removed from the event.
 No Liability for Vendors – Bright Light Events and Entertainment assumes no
liability for services, interactions, or products provided by third-party vendors at the
event. Any disputes regarding vendor interactions must be resolved directly with the
vendor.
 Voluntary Participation – By attending, you acknowledge that participation in the event
is voluntary and that Bright Light Events and Entertainment is not responsible for any
personal decisions or interactions that occur before, during, or after the event.
Cosplay & Costuming Guidelines
We welcome and encourage cosplay at our events, but participants must ensure that their
costumes allow them to fully engage in the speed dating experience.
 Seating Requirement – As part of the event format, all participants must be able to sit
down in a standard chair and interact comfortably with the person across from them. If a
costume prevents a participant from sitting properly, they will not be able to take part in
the speed dating session.
 Space Considerations – Large or bulky costumes that obstruct movement, take up
excessive space, or interfere with other participants' ability to engage in the event may
not be permitted in the speed dating area.
 Obstruction-Free Interactions – Masks, helmets, or face coverings that significantly
obscure facial expressions and verbal communication may need to be removed during
interactions to ensure effective conversation.
Participants who arrive in costumes that do not meet these criteria may be asked to adjust their
attire or may be unable to participate in the speed dating portion of the event. These guidelines
are in place to ensure a smooth, enjoyable, and fair experience for all attendees.
Personal Contact Information & External Interactions
Any decision to share personal contact information, including but not limited to phone numbers,
email addresses, or social media accounts, is at the sole discretion of the User. Bright Light
Events and Entertainment does not require, facilitate, or oversee the exchange of personal
information between participants.
By choosing to share your contact details, you acknowledge that any communication, meeting,
or relationship that occurs beyond the initial introduction at a Bright Light Events and
Entertainment event is solely your responsibility. Bright Light Events and Entertainment

assumes no liability for any interactions, agreements, or consequences resulting from continued
contact between attendees.
Participants are encouraged to use their best judgment and take appropriate precautions when
choosing to engage with others outside of the event. If any concerns arise, we recommend
discontinuing contact and reporting any inappropriate behavior to the appropriate authorities.
Cosplay is Not Consent
We are committed to providing a safe and respectful environment for all attendees, performers,
and staff. Cosplay is not consent—wearing a costume does not imply permission for physical
contact, inappropriate comments, or photography without consent.
 Respect Personal Boundaries – Always ask before taking photos or interacting with
cosplayers. If someone declines a request, respect their decision without argument.
 No Unwanted Physical Contact – Hugging, touching, or any other form of physical
interaction must be explicitly agreed upon. Unwelcome advances or harassment will not
be tolerated.
 **Photography Etiquette – Attendees wishing to take a photograph of or with another
attendee must do so in good faith and obtain clear, verbal permission beforehand.
Photography or videography without consent is not permitted. Avoid intrusive or
inappropriate angles when capturing images.
Bright Light Events and Entertainment reserves the right to photograph and record anyone
stepping into the event space. However, we do not intend to film or photograph the speed dating
portion of the event for marketing purposes. Additionally, please note that the venue itself
records all interactions on the property, and such recordings may be subject to review upon
request.** – Do not take photos or videos of anyone without their clear, verbal permission. Avoid
intrusive or inappropriate angles.
 Report Violations – If you experience or witness any behavior that violates these
guidelines, please report it to event staff or security immediately.
Violation of these policies may result in removal from the event without a refund and potential
further action as deemed necessary by event organizers. Let’s create a fun, inclusive, and safe
experience for everyone.
Change in Terms
These Terms of Use are subject to change at any time, and continued use of Bright Light Events
and Entertainment’s services constitutes acceptance of any modifications.
BY USING THE BRIGHT LIGHT EVENTS AND ENTERTAINMENT WEBSITE AND/OR
ATTENDING OUR EVENTS, YOU ACKNOWLEDGE AND ACCEPT THESE TERMS OF USE.
